Jack crevalle often blitz bait in the bays and passes, hammering topwaters and pulling hard from start to finish. Pompano work sandy troughs and channels and respond well to small jigs, rewarding precise presentations.
Redfish prowl mangrove edges and potholes on the flats, with tailing fish giving great opportunities for visual strikes. Sheepshead stack on pilings and rocky structure, demanding finesse presentations and rewarding patience. Mangrove snapper hold tight to roots, docks, and rock piles and are perfect for steady, family‑friendly catching.
Snook stage at ambush points with current, exploding on baits and making acrobatic runs. Trout (spotted seatrout) feed over grass flats and deliver consistent bites while drifting or quietly poling. Offshore, amberjack prowl wrecks and reefs and are notorious for their brute strength on vertical jigs or live baits. Cobia roam around wrecks, buoys, and rays, often materializing beside the boat and eating a well‑placed bait.
Black grouper hug ledges and hardbottom and demand stout tackle to turn their powerful dives. Gag grouper smash baits near structure and are a staple target for Gulf bottom fishing. Goliath grouper dominate wrecks as true heavyweights and are pursued strictly for catch‑and‑release thrills. Red grouper favor scattered hardbottom and small relief areas, offering steady action over productive patches.
Jack crevalle roam nearshore and offshore in aggressive packs, crushing bait and testing drags. King mackerel (kingfish) strike with blistering runs while slow‑trolling or live‑baiting along reef edges. Spanish mackerel school over reefs and bait balls, providing rapid‑fire bites on light spinning gear.
Pompano show on nearshore bars and along beach contours, taking small live baits and jigs. Snook occasionally stack on nearshore reefs and towers when bait is thick, creating surprise offshore hook‑ups. Tripletail hang around surface structure and markers, inviting careful sight‑casts to fish hovering just under the flotsam.
Tarpon—often called the Silver King—are targeted along beaches and in passes for soaring jumps, blistering runs, and a memorable, careful release after a hard‑fought battle.
Our shark trips chase a variety of powerful coastal species, featuring thumping takes, drag‑peeling runs, and safe, conservation‑minded handling for a quick release.
Permit are pursued with live crabs over wrecks and on select flats, where stealthy approaches and precise casts are rewarded with one of the most coveted inshore bites.
